Erle Loran

American, (1905–1999)


Erle Loran was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1905. He attended the University of Minnesota, and the Minneapolis School of Art. He was awarded the Paris Prize which allowed him to travel to Europe and live in Paul Cézanne’s studio. After returning from Europe, Loran began teaching at the University of California, Berkeley. He continued to paint until his death in Berkely, California in 1999.
